Dewar's The Monarch 15 YR
Distillery: Aberfeldy Distillery. Aberfeldy, Scotland Age: 15 YR Proof: 40% Nose: Light and sweet. Green apples or apple juice. Kind of juice box blend of unknown fruit. Faint toasted coconut. Palate: Sweet like candy sweet. Smooth. There is the faintest of burn at the back of the throat eventually. I taste some maltiness, Brach’s day glow yellow butterscotch candies, but a lot of sweet fruit. Even if I hadn’t read that press release I would say there is something uncommon about the fruit that might suggest tropical fruit. Color: Caramel Notes: Known as "The Monarch". This rare and special whiskey is named after the famous painting, "The Monarch of the Glen". In 1851, Sir Edwin Landseer created the famous painting, an instant masterpiece, that depicts a stag in the Scottish Highlands. John Dewar and Sons purchased the painting in 1919 and hung it proudly. Master blender Stephanie Macleod used the painting as inspiration for this rare and special whiskey. |
