Notes: Award-winning, well-aged, full-bodied, Pappy Van Winkle's Family Reserve 15 Year Bourbon is all things good. While not the oldest member of Pappy Van Winkle's family, this bourbon does have the highest proof, ranking at 107 ABV. These bottles come from hand-selected, deeply charred oak barrels and are aged undisturbed for 15 years before public release. The time allows the flavors from the oak to mellow while the flavors from the base ingredients strengthen. If you have an opportunity to taste this rare and limited release, expect complex, rich notes of dried fruits, exotic spices, oak tannins, and a cooked sugary sweetness. Like the rest of the Pappy Van Winkle lineup, caramel flavors last from beginning to end, although this 15 year bourbon has a smoother finish.
