Scotch
What makes a whiskey a Scotch

• Must be produced in Scotland
• Must be aged in oak barrels not exceeding 700 liters, in Scotland , for at least 3 yrs
• Must be produced exclusively from malted barley at a single distillery
• must be distilled below 189.6 proof/94.8% ABV in a pot still
• Must convert the starches into sugars by endogenous enzyme systems (no man-made enzymes)
• Must be fermented by yeast
• Must be bottled no lower than 80 proof/40% ABV
• Caramel Coloring may be added to artificially darken the whiskey

*Blended Scotch Whiskey is a blend of at least one single malt whiskey and one grain whiskey and does not need to be produced by a single distillery.
