Distillery: Angostura Distillery, Lawrenceburg, IN
Age: 4 yr
Nose: Delicate with a hint of spicy rye.
Palate: Clean and well structured on the spicy side.
Notes: One of the best known and most characterful blended American whiskeys, Seagram's 7 Crown has survived the breakup of the Seagram Distilling Empire and is now produced by Caribbean-based Angostura (of Angostura bitter fame). This relative newcomer to the US distilling arena has acquired the former Seagram distillery at Lawrenceburg, where 7 Crown is made, along with the long shuttered Charles Medley Distillery in Owensboro Kentucky, the Lawrenceburg distillery is the largest spirits facility in the USA in terms of production capacity.
